Float – City Cave Float & Wellness Centre

Like our good friends @ SQD Athletica we too believe that “Life is all about balance” and as such we are incorporating the very best restorative offerings Brisbane has to offer in our “Brisbane’s Best Workouts | 2018” Blog! Kicking things off with a Float @ City Cave Float & Wellness Centre in Paddington! City Cave have Float & Wellness Centres in both James St and Paddington and owners Tim Butters and Jeremy Hassell are all about increasing longevity in our community, through rejuvenation and relaxation for the mind and body! City Cave provides a unique approach to wellness, combining both Holistic and Clinical services to achieve over all well-being! With such a variety of services including Float Theraphy, Infrared Sauna, Massage, Yoga and Pilates just to name a few you are sure to find something to accommodate your restorative needs!

I can hear some of you thinking what is Float Therapy? Well through sensory deprivation and the healing properties of epsom salts, floatation therapy aids in neurological, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, muscular skeletal, hormonal balance as well as personal growth and healing. The epsom salt is a muscle relaxer as well as an anti-inflammatory mineral that helps your body detoxify. Floatation therapy is a peaceful, eye opening way for your body and mind to recover. If you haven’t experienced a Float before then you are in for a real treat!

City Cave offer Floats in both float tanks & float rooms and both types will leave you feeling rested, rejuvenated and relaxed! Float rooms are much like a standard bath tub, but much larger. City Cave Paddington & James Street both have relaxing float rooms for those who don’t wish to float in the traditional tank. They also have infrared panels above the water to ensure you never get too hot or too cold. Your body will be completely suspended, allowing you to float in the water. The light & sound in the room are set to your liking as to accommodate for your preferences. Float rooms are recommended to people with disabilities, injuries or claustrophobia. Float Tanks on the other hand are a little different and are only available at the James St Float & Wellness Centre. An isolation tank, or a sensory deprivation tank is a lightless, soundproof tank. City Cave’s float tanks, like their float rooms, have high epsom salt content filled with salt water at skin temperature, for you to float as an individual. This environment allows you to switch off, deprive your senses and focus your energy.

Ultimately Flotation Therapy is essentially a way of achieving deep relaxation by spending one hour lying quietly in either complete darkness, or soft subdued lighting with your body fully fully suspended in a warm solution of Epsom salts. Adding a Float Session into your weekly routine will be a game changer!
